Laryssa Wirstiuk is the founder and creative director of Joy Joya. She’s passionate about helping designers and retailers tell impactful stories about their brands and products and position their jewelry in front of ideal customers.
In her 20s, Laryssa focused mostly on developing her talents and skills in creative writing, teaching, and marketing; she earned a graduate degree in fiction and even crowdfunded and self-published a collection of short stories! Even while engaging in these pursuits, her idea of relaxation was browsing jewelry online and educating herself on gold and gemstones.
While enduring a “quarter-life crisis”, Laryssa realized that glittering gems – their colors, their mysterious stories, and their symbolism – were her true passion. After a brief stint as a retail sales associate for the country’s largest jewelry retailer, she moved to Los Angeles and resolved to carve out a career that would allow her to apply her talents and all her previous work experience to helping jewelry brands succeed with their marketing and business goals.
Laryssa is a Certified Diamontologist through the Diamond Council of America, and she’s completed the Gemological Institute of America’s Diamond Essentials course. Other education includes a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Bachelor of Arts in Writing from Loyola University Maryland.
She’s spoken at industry events, including Jewelry Ecomm LIVE! in Miami, and her insights have been featured in publications like AdAge, Clickz, MJSA Journal, JewelryEcomm.com, and others.
When she’s not admiring gemstones (tourmaline’s her favorite), she enjoys writing, practicing yoga, playing with her miniature dachshund Charlotte Moo, seeking out the most delicious vegan food, and soaking up the Los Angeles sun.
