"Jewelry Marketing Joy" Is Officially Here
Not only have I reached a very important milestone in my podcasting journey, but I’m also officially publishing Jewelry Marketing Joy. I’m excited to celebrate 100 episodes of the Joy Joya Jewelry Marketing Podcast and the launch of my book, which is the first-of-its-kind resource for the industry.
Jewelry Marketing Joy includes more than 300 pages of comprehensive knowledge and wisdom about marketing your jewelry brand. Whether you’re a beginner, or you’ve been running your jewelry business for decades, you’ll definitely benefit from the information in this book. I’ve been working on this project all year, and some of the content has even been pulled from work I’ve done over the past few years – you can’t even imagine how excited I am to share it with you!
JCK, National Jeweler, and Centurion have all shared news of the book, and I’m thankful to have the support of the industry behind me. If you’d like to hear me read from the intro of the book, you can check out episode 96. In addition, you can visit this page to learn more about the book and to order your very own copy.
I want to share some background information about how the book came to be, in case you’re curious. Ever since I officially started my business Joy Joya in 2016, I’ve been committed to educating my prospects and clients with helpful, informative content. I want jewelry industry entrepreneurs and leaders to feel empowered about their marketing and to understand both the best practices and trends in digital marketing, ecommerce, and customer experience. I have so much knowledge and insight to share, and it’s fun for me to communicate with the people who listen to my podcast, watch my videos, and read my blog.
In 2016, I began my content marketing journey with only a blog and email list. In 2018, I decided I needed to branch out and experiment with new modes of sharing my content. As a result, I had the idea to launch a podcast, and I taught myself everything I would need to do in order to move forward with that idea.
I published my first episode on November 12, 2018, and the title of that podcast episode was “How to Prepare Your Jewelry Marketing for 2019“. I’m honestly afraid to listen to that episode because I know how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned in my podcasting journey over 100 episodes. Since that first episode, I’ve covered a wide range of topics, and I’ve even had to chance to interview so many amazing guests, including photographer Alain Simic, jewelry pricing and product development expert Nan Lung Palmer, Tracy Matthews of Flourish & Thrive Academy, and jewelry social media marketing expert Liz Kantner. If you think you’ve learned a lot from my podcast, I can promise you that I’ve learned at least 10 times more. It has been such a humbling and enlightening journey that requires me to be open minded and to always trust the process.
Earlier this year, I decided to launch a video component of my podcast, which you can find on YouTube. I’ve done a lot of really challenging things for the sake of my business over the years, but I have to admit that video has been one of the biggest hurdles so far. It does not come easily to me, and I have developed a deep respect for people who do it well! I’m lucky to be in Los Angeles, among friends who are in the entertainment industry, and I’ve learned so much from them. It’s an ever-evolving journey.
Needless to say, all these years of developing content gave me so much to potentially include in a book. Unlike making videos, writing comes very easily to me, and I’m actually no stranger to writing books. I have a master of fine arts degree in Creative Writing, and I self published a collection of short stories titled The Prescribed Burn in 2012. However, no matter how many books you’ve written, nothing really prepares you for the journey of the next book you’re going to write. Each one is its own insane challenge.
Knowing that I wanted to write a book, I made a New Year’s resolution in 2020 to create a schedule with the projected release date of September 15th. I wrote diligently every week. 2020 has been such a difficult year for so many people, but if I can find a silver lining in it, I would say that it gave me even more time to focus on this gargantuan project. I diligently kept to my schedule and had a vision for the title and cover. Photographer Alain Simic shot the cover photo; the ring is actually a vintage 18K gold piece I found on eBay that attracted me with its upward arrow-like shape, which symbolizes growth and progress. My talented boyfriend Jordan designed the cover. I did all the layout, editing, proofreading, and file preparation. Let me tell you – it was so much work, many late nights and full weekends, especially as I was getting closer to my self-imposed deadline.
The content in the book is definitely a culmination of all the content I’ve produced so far on my blog and podcast from 2016. However, I also had to create heaps of new content to fill in gaps and expand upon topics throughout the book. Even if you’re a dedicated listener of this podcast, you’ll still find so much information that you won’t find anywhere else.
So what’s the next step after this? Well, I’m not stopping the podcast – don’t worry! I’ll continue publishing content on a regular basis and will hopefully release an expanded and updated version of Jewelry Marketing Joy in the future. I already have ideas! In addition, I’m working on developing a few courses and a workbook based on the content of my book. The course has already been in development for a couple of months. I really can’t wait to share all that with you.
Thank you for following me on this journey so far, and I hope that I’ve been able to help you grow and build your jewelry business. If you can take a moment to leave a rating and review of this podcast, I’d really appreciate it. In addition, if you can leave an Amazon review when you get your copy of the book, that would mean the world to me.
